Protagonist; Lennie and George
I don’t know the reason why he and George are fleeing from chasing team from the beginning. But considering the story developed thereafter the cause seems Lennie’s responsibility. He killed a woman in this time. He realized he couldn’t afford Lennie’s continuing mistakes. Also George is well aware that Lennie will be die after painful lynch of Curley and his worker.
He followed Lennie with stolen gun.
When they meet together Lennie told to George, “I done another bad thing.”
George lead their conversation to their common dream.
As George listen to the distant sound of dogs barking, he brough out pistol from his pocket and snapped off the safety. George say “we’re gonna have a cow, and some pigs, and gonna have a chicken and we’ll have a field of alfafa.”
Lennie shouted “For the rabbits.” “ And I get to tend the rabbits.” He shouted with happiness.
George pulled the trigger to the back of the Lennie’s head from behind.
He settled slowly forward to the sand and lay down without pain.
Character of Curley’s wife
Curley’s wife is young, good looking woman. It seems that she has unsatisfied living with her husband, so she wanted to receive other man’s love. Nobody wants a mate with her because she is a wife of ranch owner’s son. It makes her lonely. Several times she wanted to approach to George but he is so clever to understand the situation and keep distance between them.
She approached even to Lennie who has no attractiveness. Lennie likes the soft material like fur of small animal.
In this time he likes to touch heir of Curley’s wife for a moment. She has amused herself but when she wanted to quit this behavior and Lennie want to continue. She shouted for help and he try to prevent her yell. During this conflict she was dead helplessly.
She is a victim of rural man’s community
